2019 Vitality Goalden Globe Awards celebrate incredible contributions of volunteers.
The 2019 Vitality Goalden Globe Awards took place at the beginning of the World Cup on Saturday 13th July. These awards enable England Netball to recognise and celebrate the fantastic contributions of the incredible volunteers within our game.
Set in the picturesque St. George’s Hall, the event had a Vitality Netball World Cup flavour with each table named after a legend of the game. Vitality Roses Kadeen and Sasha Corbin were also in attendance to hand out awards to the deserving recipients at a time to celebrate and recognise those that work tirelessly behind the scenes.
Congratulations to, Jan Burke, Sheelagh Redpath,Gloria Keech who all received awards at the Vitality Goalden Globe Awards but in particular a very special mention to Brian Worrell who along with Sheelagh received the National Rose Award. Acknowledging their exceptional contributions to netball within the last 12 months. This special honour is awarded to a nominee(s) for a notable contribution to Netball in any capacity, which can encompass any aspect of the game and its administration.
Through their work Sheelagh and Brian have worked tirelessly as volunteers to establish a National Archive for Netball that is accessible to the whole netball family. They encouraged, enabled and motivated a team of volunteers over many years to take in interest in the history and heritage of the sport through the process of sifting and cataloging over 75 years of netball records and memorabilia.
This was the platform for England Netball to thank all of the incredible volunteers and their selfless and tireless work in supporting the growth and development of our wonderful sport in what was The Summer of Netball! Congratulations to all of those recipients!
