Hertfordshire Regional clubs success
With 5 Hertfordshire teams competing in this year’s East Regional Club league. It was bound to be a display of top quality netball.
In Division 1 Crosskeys and Turnford fought out a long hard season. There were some mixed results and a chance for some of Hertfordshire younger talented players to get a chance to taste of regional league netball. Both Crosskeys and Turnford gave spirited performances and battled through to the end. Crosskeys finished in 10th place, meaning they will be representing Herts in Division 2 next year – but be warned, this solid experiences team won’t be licking their wounds for long. They will re-build and fight their way to secure promotion next year! Turnford fielded a young squad mixed with experience to finish in 6th place this year. This has given many players in the club to experience a higher level of competition – which will only bode well for the future of these players.
Division 2 was well represented by 3 Hertfordshire teams - Hatfield Hawks, Hertford Hornets and Watford Premier. Hatfield Hawks experienced their 1st outing in regional netball this year, after gaining promotion via the play-off’s the previous season. Hawks enjoyed a great start to the season, sitting top of Division 2. Over the course of the season the newly promoted Hawks managed to notch up an impressive 12 win’s out of 18 to finish a very respectable 2nd place in division 2 – narrowly missing out on a double consecutive promotion. Hertford Hornets after being relegated from division 1 last year – started and maintained a grip on the other division 2 teams. Steaming through the season racking up 15 wins out of 18 to ensure they returned to where they belonged. Hornets with their impressive win record; finished above Hawks in 1st place to win division 2 and will be fighting it out with Turnford and the other division 1 teams. Finally Watford Premier ensured they would be playing regional league netball again next season, with a solid performance and  7 well fought for wins, earning a 6th place finish in division 2.
Good luck to all our regional representatives and we look forward to watching your progress in the up and coming season
